ETHICS & THE ARTS (DIRECTOR)

Carlton Mackey is the director of the Ethics & the Arts Program at the Emory University Center for Ethics.

The Ethics & the Arts Program encourages ethical discourse and debate through and about the arts. The production of art, its role in public conversation, its preservation, and its presentation, all provoke us to confront ethical challenges, sometimes in startling new ways. We are committed to inspiring innovative thought by using creative expression to elevate moral discourse; bringing together communities while prompting ethical dialogue between students, artists, scholars, and the general public.

Mackey also developed the Art and Social Engagement Project within the Ethics & the Arts Program.  Thanks to a partnership with Southwest Airlines, Emory University students have the opportunity to work directly with local artists and community groups in Atlanta to learn about ethically engaged art and improve the city around them.
